I embrace your values of economic freedom, individual liberty and personal responsibility. I don't share your assumption that these values are missing in those who are living in poverty, burdened by personal debt, or have mortgages that are under water; nor do I believe that unemployment insurance has made the American people spoiled. Since the conservative revolution started by President Reagan, the Republican Party has expanded corporate welfare, exploded the national debt (VP Cheney even stated publically that deficits don't matter), deregulated, defunded regulatory agencies that resulted in outbreaks of public illness in our food supply, and encouraged political cohabitation between industry and regulatory agencies that resulted in more than one oil related catastrophe, the American people have seen their economic freedom deteriorate, their individual liberties curtailed, and their personal responsibility dismissed by predatory financial practices. Your corporate patrons are now in position to have no resistance in Congress to enact legislation and pass tax policies that exempt them from any responsibility toward this Great Nation that has enabled them to prosper. Your patrons harvest public money as tax policies, subsidies and investment capital, receive protection by American diplomacy and worldwide defense establishment, and get rescued by American tax payers when short-term greed incapacitates better judgment. If these values are part of your core values, then demand that your corporate patrons observe them, and use them to act in the best interest of the American people. It is precisely because your patrons buy our elections and control Congress that the American People, conservatives somewhat excluded, have lost faith in the government of the United States of America.
